Frequently Asked Questions

Setup & Pairing

How do I set up Avery for the first time?

Download the kid.studio app, power on your Avery, and follow the in-app pairing guide. The app will find your device via Bluetooth and help you connect it to WiFi.

Avery isn't showing up in the app. What should I do?

Make sure Avery is powered on and the LED is lit. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Try moving closer to the device. If it still doesn't appear, try restarting both Avery and the app.

Can I connect Avery to 5GHz WiFi?

Avery only supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks. Most routers broadcast both bands - make sure you connect to the 2.4GHz network during setup.

Content & Playback

What types of content can I add?

You can add podcasts (via search or RSS URL), audiobooks, music feeds, and stream from Spotify (Premium required). Any valid RSS feed with audio enclosures will work.

How do I add a podcast?

Open the app, go to the Shows tab, tap Add, and search for the podcast by name. You can also paste an RSS feed URL directly for podcasts not in our search.

Does Avery work offline?

Yes! Downloaded content plays without WiFi. Use the app to download episodes before trips or in case of connectivity issues.

How much content can Avery store?

Avery can store 20+ hours of audio content, depending on audio quality. The app shows available storage and lets you manage downloaded content.

Parental Controls

How do I set quiet hours?

In the app, go to Settings > Parental Controls > Quiet Hours. Set the start and end times when Avery should not play audio.

Can I limit how loud Avery gets?

Yes! Set a volume cap in Settings > Parental Controls > Volume Limit. This is especially useful if your child uses headphones.

How do session limits work?

Session limits restrict total listening time per day. Once the limit is reached, Avery will stop playing until the next day.

Troubleshooting

Avery won't turn on

Ensure the USB-C cable is firmly connected and you're using a 5V/2.5A power supply. Try a different cable or power adapter. The LED should light up within a few seconds of connecting power.

No sound is playing

Check that the volume isn't at zero (turn the dial right). Verify content is downloaded or WiFi is connected. Try pressing the dial to ensure it's not paused.

The app can't find my device

Make sure your phone is on the same WiFi network as Avery. Check that Avery is powered on with a lit LED. Try closing and reopening the app.

Audio is choppy or skipping

This usually indicates a weak WiFi signal. Move Avery closer to your router, or download content for offline playback to avoid streaming issues.
