Feeds become shows, playlists become mixes.
Today the last of the old words left the code. A feed is now a show. A playlist is now a mix. Two weeks ago I couldn’t explain the difference between a feed and a playlist. Now there’s nothing to explain.
The library got simpler at the same time. A show has episodes. A mix is a list of things to play in order. That’s the whole model. A parent picks a show from a short list of kids’ shows, plays it from any episode, and chooses how many episodes to keep on the player. The code that translated between the old names and the new ones came out the same afternoon. There are no users yet, so there’s nothing to migrate.
The icon. The December 7th sketch was a red circle. Yesterday’s page has eight variations, in different colors, with the play and skip arrows moved around. I want the icon to mean something, ideally the device itself, and maybe one day it shows up in the color of a family’s own player. For now the plain red circle wins, and it’s in the app.

Next: get the app onto TestFlight, Apple’s beta testing service, so it can run on a phone without a laptop attached.
